Patients who are not ready for injectables or lasers are great candidates for peels. At the same time, peels can greatly augment or prolong the results of patients who have done other rejuvenation procedures. Dr. Chiu was trained by one of the leading experts on the techniques of chemical peeling and is able to offer an array of customized peeling solution blends for any given skin type or condition.

Chemical peels work by inducing accelerated exfoliation or causing a controlled injury to the top layers of the skin. The resulting healing process induces deposition of collagen, thickening of the skin, and repair of sun-damaged skin. With certain peels, oil gland production can also be reduced, making it a great option to complement any acne or anti-aging regimen.

Chemical peels address a variety of issues:

  • Acne and acne scarring
  • Pigmentary issues such as melasma
  • Discolorations or “sun spots”
  • Fine lines
  • Enlarged pores
  • Deeper wrinkles
  • Benign and pre-cancerous growths on the skin

Dr. Chiu was trained by one of the leading experts on the techniques of chemical peeling and is able to offer an array of customized peeling solution blends for any given skin type or condition.

To fully customize and optimize your peel, Dr. Chiu will blend various ingredients and peeling agents to tailor the most effective treatment for every individual. We offer a range from the lightest peels (glycolic acid peels) to TCA peels (trichloroacetic acid), to the deep gold-standard Gordon-Baker-Phenol Peel, as well as TCA CROSS technique for pitted acne scars.

Common Questions:

Which peel do I need?

Dr. Chiu will work with you to determine the most ideal peel strength or even layer a combination of peels to achieve the best results for your skin type. Come visit us for a consultation!

How much downtime will there be?

Generally, a deeper peel requires a longer downtime, but has the most dramatic results. Light peels have little to no downtime. We can tailor it to suit your needs.

How many peels do I need?

Light peels are typically done as a series ideally spaced one month apart to achieve the best results. Then 3-4 times a year for maintenance. Deeper peels like the Baker-Gordon Phenol peel are typically only done once with long lasting improvement.

Where on my body can chemical peels be applied?

Virtually any part of the body, especially sun-exposed areas such as the face, arms, and legs, (even the back for acne) can benefit from light peels. These treatments rid the skin of the top dead layer of cells and the result is smooth, baby-soft skin.

Please refer to our pre and post peel instructions for best results and what to expect.

For deeper peels, consider The Derm Institute’s B-12 Super Shot with Amino Acids and Vitamin C which can boost wound healing, collagen production, and energy.
